Whispering Woods Kiwanis Park
Developed with families in mind, this 49.5-acre
park offers a variety of recreational opportunities
for all ages. In 1998, the Shelby-Utica Kiwanis
Club funded the purchase and construction of a
handicap accessible, environmentally friendly
playscape (made of recycled plastics) for the
enjoyment of the children of the community.
Located at 1000 Twenty One Mile Road,
Whispering Woods is a busy park from Spring
through Autumn. Local soccer leagues play
games and hold camps, baseball teams use
Bob Adams Field, and football is played in the
Fall. The park has also become popular with
local teens for volleyball and basketball.
Each July, the Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department hosts “Kid’s Olympics” at Whispering
Woods. The free all-day event
features competitive events
geared for children, entertainment,
and refreshments.
Features of Whispering Woods include: 9 soccer
fields, an irrigated baseball diamond, a comfort
station, sand volleyball pits, 11-piece tot lot, barrier
free Kiwanis playscape, 2 picnic shelters, picnic
tables, walking/jogging paths, and basketball courts.
